From the Desk of Pastor Alex
--Pastor Alexandru Breja--

I believe in God simply because He exists. I believe in Him because He revealed Himself in history and also in my own life. I love God because He first loved me (1John 4:19). God is love (1John 4:8) and He created each individual with an incredible capacity to love and to be loved. I also discovered that I cannot always and fully trust myself or others, because "the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked" (Jeremiah 17:9); who can trust it? However, God is 100% dependable, because He never let me or others down. We all need certainties that are beyond ourselves, and only God can provide those certainties.

My favorite text in the Scriptures is Genesis 1:1, because it is the first and the most fundamental revelation of God. Everything else in the Bible s an elaboration or expansion of the cardinal themes thereof.

I entered ministry because I was attracted from childhood to ministry with an irresistible draw. I felt like if I do this, I would be the happiest person in the world. The church in turn recognized my gifts and qualifications, and called me into the ministry. The philosophy of my ministry is to fulfill the destiny I was called for in this life. It is written that John was called "to bear witness of the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world, that all through him might believe (John 1:8-9). Paul was destined to take the gospel about a crucified, risen, ascended, and returning Savior outside the narrow confines of the then established Israel (to the Gentiles); Jesus was destined to save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:21); and I was called to tell in my unique way what I have understood and experienced about the eternal story - the creation, un-creation, and re-creation of the world and humanity.

My burning desire for the churches I was called to minister to is that they also catch the vision; that they may understand the purpose God established his church for in the world, and find their greatest fulfillment in being integrated in that purpose - to reflect in various and unique ways the riches of God's glory shining through the indwelling Christ. The church functions in many ways: as a hospital, where wounds are healed; or as a workshop where characters are molded for heaven; again, as a miniature of the lost Garden of Eden, where people can live in harmony with God, others, the environment, and themselves within the boundaries of life built into creation from the beginning; or as a showcase for God's eternal mystery and of the better things to come; or as a news agency proclaiming the blessed hope of creation restored, as the only hope for humanity. I am happy to belong to such a church, together with those God gave me to carry on my heart.
